Packaging!
This week we would like to turn our attention to how we aim to reduce recycle and reuse as much as possible our packaging.
.
Packaging is an essential part of our business and we truly believe that an important part of what makes our business a little bit different is the care and attention that we place on making sure that all of orders arrive with our customers in perfect condition.
.
However, we also get a bit frustrated when we receive shipments that are overpackaged, just the other day we received a pack of seeds that had been sent in a box that a baby elephant could happily have lived in.
.
It’s of course a fine balance between overpackaging and ensuring that an item is protected from the worst that our much loved and valued posties can do to a package on a bad rainy day..
.
We have invested in two bubble-making machines that use recycled film that is then filled with fresh Hampshire air to protect larger items, for smaller items we use recycled grey mailing bags, gone are the days of the packing peanuts that seemed to explode on arrival with our customers showering them and their houses with polystyrene.
.
We were therefore quite pleased to see this feedback last week from a customer that had purchased one of our most fragile items a 44cm high glass cylindrical Galileo thermometer
.
This is what they said.
.
It arrived well packaged, wrapped on all sides with air bags, in a larger box, with a large(obvious) fragile sticker on it. Perfect. Nothing was broken on arrival. It was tested with a digital thermometer also. It works perfect. It has been given as a gift now, which has gone down very well indeed.
